WHAT THIS PAGE IS ALL ABOUT

The UFO Reporter is a Web page for collecting stories about the UFO phenomenon and its impact on people the world over. It is our hope to eventually use all the stories we have collected (through the Web or not) for our upcoming publication The Unexplained which logs and catagorizes UFO encounters of all types. Unlike many other publications which simply reinvestigate the same better-known encounters again and again or concentrate on regressive hypnotherapy sessions after the fact, our book will take things from a fresh perspective, through the eyes of the average person, and let you, the reader, draw his or her own conclusions.

OUR STORY

We are a small but dedicated group of journalists who have devoted a great deal of our spare time to the investigation of UFOs and the people who encounter them. Our investigations have taken us all over the American Southwest, The Great Plains, Mexico and Canada. In each town we go to, there were dozens of witnesses who were more than delighted to come forward with tales of their encounters, often far more than we were prepared for with our microcassette recorders, film and cameras.

We often got more than we bargained for on film, but always there were the countless stories and leads to check up on that we in no way could even hope to keep up with.

Not long after this, we drew the obvious conclusion that we could not be everywhere at once. So we did the next best thing, we put ourselves out on the Web in the hope that witnesses would come to us.

WHO WE ARE

Since we are asking you the reader to come forward with your story, it's only fair we tell you something about ourselves, so here goes. We have a number of friends and volunteers which help us out from time to time, but it always boils down to these three:

Vincent Rainey An amateur ufologist for 15 years, Vincent holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Cal State University, Long Beach. He currently works as the managing editor at a computer company. Drawing on his years of experience as a reporter and editor, Vince tracks down leads and conducts most of the field interviews. He is also pleased to finally get his first science fiction novel reviewed for possible publication. As those in the industry know, even THAT is quite an achievement!

Y. Thomas Yamakis Holding a BS in Economics from California State University, Dominguez Hills, Tom is a real Renaissance man. Tom is a high school teacher, small business owner and an apartment landlord and who still finds time to pursue ufology. Tom primarily researches the legal and business end of UFO hunting and keeps the rest of us out of trouble by researching the state and local laws of our destinations.

Troy M. Macleod Troy is a disinguished writer who has had several articles published for TSR's Dragon and Dungeon magazines. As such, Troy was the natural one to head up the compiling and editing of The Unexplained. Troy also assists with interviews and helps out with the Web site. Recently, Troy has left us to work on his own pet project Paranormal Confessions, but he is still nice enought to stay on to help us part-time.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Quite simply, we are looking for is people's experiences. As we have stated earlier, all responses will be considered for our publication and we will honor all requests for anonymity or we will gladly change your name to protect your privacy.

When writing us, please be as thorough as possible. Begin with the events leading up to the encounter. What were you doing? If you were on the road in your car, where were you headed and at what time? Please be as exact as you can with locations, as we need to verify as much as possible. Often maps and sketches come in handy, and we will have a PO Box ready soon for you to send them to us.

In relating the encounter, take time to remember exactly how you felt, what thoughts were racing through your head. Taking time to remember often brings back subtle details from a stressful or strange event. No detail is too small or irrelevent to us.

And finally, please include an update on how the experience changed your life. Anything from repressed memories to hypnotherapy sessions and follow-up encounters should be included,

The issue of honesty comes up with our detractors periodically, and is a valid point. When dealing with so many witnesses in person or through correspondence, how can we be sure who is pulling our leg and who is telling the truth? There is no easy answer to that. What I can say is that we have been at this for a while, and between ufology and our other careers (particularly the Journalism one, though Tom might argue he hears a lot of lies as a teacher, too) we've become pretty good at figuring out who is telling the truth and who isn't. It is simply a gamble we have to take when asking for input on a subject like this.

The rest, reader, is up to you. If you have an encounter you'd like to relate to us, we'd love to hear it. Just Click Here.
